Pathogenist, Algorithmer, Chemhead, and Demiurge
As we approach the last week of the campaign, let's touch on some of the eight new class archetypes in Dark Forest!
Biohacker - Pathogenist. Pathogenists have cultivated an ecosystem of designer microbes that they can release as an aerosolized cloud of violence, attacking anyone that comes into contact with the devastating critters. The pathogenist can use their cloud of microbes to lacerate, sicken, exhaust, or torment anyone within range. Death of a thousand cuts is often literal for anyone crossing these disease specialists. Bioengineers, mycologists, virologists, microbiologists, and bioterrorists are professions that typify this archetype, though anyone with the will to master microbial life can embody this path.
Codehacker - Algorithmer. Algorithmers have hacked into population-level data gathered by corporations and governments and have codified it into programs they can run for themselves, allowing them to gain access to aptitudes they don't typically have, crowdsourcing their skill set. They program reactive behaviors directly into their daemons, allowing them to run on autopilot when particular situations arise. It is common for algorithmers to have a deterministic view of human nature, seeing all actions as manifestations of underlying codifiable processes.
Crook - Chemhead. Chemheads are infected with the Lingshu virus, which makes taking drugs especially effective. Chemheads seem to have avoided most of the adverse complications of the virus, reaping only the benefits. As the Lingshu virus matures in their bodies, it further alters their physiology to act more synergistically with narcotics. Performance-enhancing pharmaceuticals transform chemheads into drug-induced superheroes!
Engineer - Demiurge. Demiurges are combat engineers and pioneers of a new technology emerging from Jenterra research in Dark Forest, fluid colonies of transmuting nanobots called Aether. On its own, Aether looks like an iridescent liquid metal. However, by applying power and programming, demiurges can shift the shape and organization of Aether down to a molecular level, changing its material properties as needed. As a result, demiurges can instantly make Aether into weapons, armor, tools, art, or anything else they can imagine.
Sneak Peek Of New Rules

As we near the next stretch goal, here's a sneak peek of a few pages in Dark Forest!
New Ranged Weapons
Many of these weapons offer variable types of damage for specialized enemies! New melee weapons will also be included in Dark Forest! Fans of the Predator franchise will likely already be familiar with the devastating effects of the ratchet net.
Expanded Genetic Enhancement Table
Some of the new genetic enhancements Dark Forest offers, 65 in total right now, with a few more to be added in the coming months!
Other New Rules
In addition to the new archetypes, feats, weapons, and drugs, there will also be rules for extracting, selling, and incorporating cyberware from defeated enemies! As the original ware is tailor-made to its original owner, it is risky to use this pilfered tech.

Looks Like Another Print Run Is Coming!
Almost funded!!! Looking like we might get there in the first week! Thank you to all that have supported thus far. So glad to see this, both for Dark Forest, and for anyone who missed out on getting a physical copy of the GeneFunk 2090 Core Rulebook!
Now, let's take a closer look at one of the horrifying aspects of Dark Forest!
Dark Forest Body Horror
While Dark Forest is a jungle adventure, taking cues from Skull Island, Jurassic Park, and Indiana Jones, it is also a place of biological nightmares. The biopunk elements take inspiration from such media as Cronenburg-fiction, Annihilation, and Color Out of Space.
Dark Forest's mutagenic atomosphere doesn't respect the borders of an individual organism, it twists and bends them!
Dark Forest is filled with a panoply of related mutagenic viruses. These viruses are collectively known as Supay Miasma. Supay Miasma infects all types of life, taking snippets of DNA from one organism and transposing it into others, changing physiology and form in terrifying ways! Supay Miasma has grown out of control, creating a multitude ofgrotesque horrors. The cryptic jungle valley leaves its mark on all who enter, twisting form and function to nefarious ends. The incredible art of @RomeckArt captures the nightmarish transformations of Supay Miasma near their end stages.
Late stage effects of Supay Miasma has warped these creatures into living atrocities, courtesy of @RomeckArt!
Rumors hint that Jenterra corporation worked with narcoterrorists to create these hideous viruses; but why?
